Dynamic GUI desktop resolution can be problematic if using across multiple monitors.
It is possible to force a specific resolution, such as 5120x1400 to make a wide view that crosses multiple monitors.
If you have been migrated, skip to the Post Migration Instructions!
Log into your VNC Gui connection (please create a Zendesk ticket if you need one).
If you are on a version of VNC earlier than 7.4. Check your applications menu, if it looks like this then you're on the earlier version.
Select Change Resolution
Select a resolution from the list
and click Change Resolution once more. Unfortunately custom resolutions are not supported.
Post Migration Instructions
If you are on the newer version of VNC the change resolution option will not be in the applications menu, instead there is an option to save resolution which may not result in a mode that supports multi monitor configurations. However there's an alternate method of specifying exact resolutions in this new system.
First disable Dynamic Scaling;
Wave your mouse around the top middle edge of your VNC window until this menu drops down. Press the 1:1 icon to make sure there is a red line crossing through the icon. The above picture indicates the correct setting.
Next disable Scale Automatically:
Right click on the title bar of the window and uncheck Scale Automatically, this prevents the gui from looking blurry.
Next click on the vnc logo in the upper right hand corner
click the burger menu and select options
Select the Expert tab, enter 'RandR' in the Filter box, then change the Value to the desired number.
hit OK!
Please Note! The above 5120x1400 is a suggested value which is very wide. To calculate what number should be used you can either add up the pixel dimensions of your monitors or if you're being migrated from an old system check the steps above to find out your old resolution value and copy the NumberXNumber value to the box above.
After that you will need to log out to apply these settings. This method allows greater resolutions than selecting 'Save VNC Resolution' can provide on its own.
